Visitor Follow-up
The Visitor Follow-Up Ministry attempts to visit or call each person that has attended a church service, using the name, address, and phone numbers acquired by the hostesses. Follow-ups are completed to show the concern and care of the church for each soul.
Whenever someone visits the POA for the first time, the procedure for contacting visitors is as follows:
-
Following that visit, their name is added to a list of visitors. Members of this ministry obtain the list of names from the church office.
-
Next, the names are assigned to the person responsible for telephoning visitors and/or the people who have accepted responsibility for a particular area.
-
Members of the Visitor Follow-Up either call or visit each person who has been assigned to them. The purpose of this contact is to establish a return visit to the POA, answer questions, discuss scriptures, or provide any other information the visitor might need as he/she pursues the Lord.
In order to become part of the Visitor Follow-Up Ministry, potential workers must have completed Orientation. They must also be people-oriented and show compassion. Workers should be able to follow through, showing care and concern. Finally, individuals who join this ministry must feel a sense of responsibility as the names are assigned and be willing to make a commitment to follow through individually.
Participants in the Visitor Follow-Up Ministry also have the opportunity to meet with the bus route program on Saturday mornings. At these meetings, they can make contacts with other outreach workers and hear inspiring messages. However, attendance at these meetings is not mandatory.
Once individuals from the community have attended the POA, they need for the church to reach out to them and welcome them back time and time again. Ultimately, visitors need to be linked with the programs of the POA, such as Orientation, which is designed for new POA members. The Visitor Follow-Up provides the connection between the world of the visitor and the world of the POA.
