Bereavement Care
Bereavement Care ministers to hurting POA families during a time of loss, such as the death of a spouse, child, or parent. This team provides the immediate family with a meal at the home of the immediate family or at the church. When a meal is not provided, a suitable gift is given to the family as a token of love and sympathy. The primary focus of this ministry is to comfort and console the family members, show them love and compassion, and provide an uplifting network of support during their time of grief. In the year following, the team continues to show support by making contact with the family.
Hospital Visitation
Members of this ministry are divided into two groups: activity and inactivity. Those in the activity group visit the hospitals, make follow-up visits after an individual is released from the hospital, and visit those individuals who are homebound. Members of the inactivity group make phone calls and send cards to those who are in, or have been recently discharged from, the hospital. A newsletter keeps the members of this ministry aware of those needing extra care.
Nursing Home Visitation
Nursing Home Visitation's purpose is to develop
special bonds with those church members who live in one of the
area Nursing Home facilities. Members of this ministry visit area homes, singing and praying with the residents to give them a small taste of the church services they can no longer attend.
Clothes Closet/Red Hat Society
The Red Hat Society manages the Clothes Closet and is responsible for providing clothing, linens, and household items to families in need. Recipients include new converts, House of Mercy and Grace House residents, Sunday School children from the bus ministry, and missionaries and nationals around the world. This ministry also provides aid to families in the community who experience loss due to house fires.
