Pre-Marital Classes/Marriage
Connection Weekend

Marriage Connection Weekend
is designed to provide engaged and newlywed couples with
teaching and resources to help them establish a strong
Biblical foundation for their life together. These classes
are sponsored by the POA's Family Enrichment Ministry and are
taught by a team of excited, committed teachers who are
knowledgeable about their subject matter and passionate about
helping newlyweds build strong marriages.
Any couple planning to be
married at the POA or by a POA minister must complete the
POA's Marriage Connection Weekend. This class serves as the
POA's required pre-marital counseling. However, the class also
is open to any couple from the church or the community.
Marriage Connection Weekend is
a two-day course (Friday evening and Saturday throughout the
day) offered twice a year. Classes are informal, interactive,
and fun! The curriculum for the course was developed in-house
and includes sessions communication, finances, roles and
responsibilities, in-law relationships, commitment, and more!
Each POA newlywed/engaged
couple is assigned a mentor couple of compatible background and
interests. Mentor couples (who must have been married at least
10 years and have proven to be Godly and stable in their
marriage relationship) attend Marriage Connection Weekend with
their assigned couple and follow-up with the newlyweds
throughout the first year of marriage. This provides the
newlyweds with someone other than family or close friends from
whom they can receive advice.
For information about fees
or dates of the next Marraige Connection Weekend class, or to
register for the class, please contact the POA Wedding
Coordinator, Carla Rogers, at 318.445.1085.
