The
Overcomers ministry provides accommodations for the physically and
mentally challenged. More than thirty students are encouraged to
participate to the best of their ability each week as workers take
prayer requests, pray, sing, and teach.
Two
groups of students make up the Overcomers: physically disabled with
normal or high intelligence and mentally disabled with few or no
physical disabilities. Hostesses have access to invitations to the
class to distribute to the disabled.
In
addition to receiving cards and attending occasional parties, members
of the Overcomers class have the opportunity to benefit from the
following:
Tape Ministry: Cassette tapes of music and preaching are loaned out for a week. When one is returned, another tape may be loaned.
Alphabet Board:
The alphabet board is used by individuals who do not have the ability
to communicate orally. These students can point to messages.
Spotlight on Students:
A bulletin board features pictures and articles on special events,
graduation, special olympics participation, or other recognition.
Overcomers
is an outreach ministry, welcoming and reaching for disabled
individuals from the community; their parents and families; and those
that care for the disabled during the week, such as managers and
employees of facilities and the medical community.
