POA Training Center
Frequently Asked Questions
Preparing for Dorm Life
1. What is the dorm life like?
Life in the dorm is designed with a home setting in mind; therefore, sofas, a big-screen monitor for training, a living area, a dining table, and clean restrooms are provided, and the space will not be overcrowded. Additional convenience is provided through cooking equipment, a stove and refrigerator, and washers and dryers.
2. Are there laundry facilities?
Washers, dryers, detergent, and other supplies are available.
3. Can I bring a pet?
Pets are not allowed. No pets of any kind will be permitted under any circumstances.
4. What kind of clothing should I bring?
Participants will be ministering in a variety of settings on a regular basis. Therefore, a variety of clothing will be needed, including casual, dressy casual, and "Sunday" attire. Dressy casual clothing will be appropriate for most ministry work; however, the appropriate dress for each setting will be discussed following the participants' arrival. Modest workout clothing (no shorts or tank tops) will be needed for those who plan to be members of the POA's Family Life Center.
Life Outside the Training Center
5. Can I go home for visits?
Due to the short length of the session and the intensity of the training, we desire that participants stay the entire time. However, a mid-session long weekend (3 days) will be set up to provide participants with a break and to allow them to make a short visit home.
6 . What if I need to leave due to tragedy?
If an extreme emergency arises, you certainly will be allowed to leave, and the POA Training Center will work with you concerning refund or completion of the program.
7. Can my family visit me?
Yes. Any visits will need to be scheduled as far in advance as possible to avoid any scheduling conflicts.
8. Can I have an outside job?
Participants' schedules will not allow for any outside work.
9. Can I date while attending the training center?
Dating will distract participants from their training and interfere with their full schedule and, therefore, will not be allowed.
The Program
10. What is the cost to attend the POA Training Center?
The fifteen-week session fee is $3,000.
11. From whom will I learn?
Trainees will learn from Anthony Mangun, Mickey Mangun, G.A. Mangun, Vesta Mangun, Terry Shock, Melani Shock, Tim Rutledge, Kevin Howard, POA department heads, visiting ministers, and more!
12. Is your program accredited?
The POA Training Center is a ministry of The Pentecostals of Alexandria and is designed to help men gain hands-on experience through an internship; it is not accredited by any organization.
13. If I have relatives in the Central Louisiana area or the finances to provide alternative housing for myself, and I do not wish to stay in the dorms, may I still attend the POATC?
Yes, but you will need to meet the scheduling requirements of the program, have a vehicle, and pay the normal tuition.
14. What if I am interested in attending but am not sure that I am called of the Lord?
You can still be accepted into our program as long as you believe the Apostles' doctrine, have the approval of your pastor, and have a passion to see the kingdom of God increase.
